The TWISTT project was pleased to take part in the Research-Action Workshop held on 30–31 March 2026 in Tunis and Kairouan, in collaboration with CRDA Kairouan.
This workshop reflected TWISTT’s broader ambition: improving water accounting in Mediterranean agricultural systems through a combination of Earth Observation, modelling, geophysical approaches, socio-economic analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
The first day focused on sustainable irrigation management and socio-economic governance, including discussions on hydrological flows, crop water needs, water governance, pilot plot characteristics, and the validation of the socio-economic questionnaire.
The second day focused on technological innovation for sustainable irrigation management, with sessions on irrigation practices, water conservation, training on capacitive probes, and a field visit for their installation in the pilot plot.
These activities show how TWISTT connects science, field practice, and stakeholder dialogue to support more transparent, practical, and sustainable water management.
Many thanks to INRAT, CRDA Kairouan, and all project partners and participants for their warm welcome, valuable contributions, and commitment to the success of the workshop
