
On January 29th, 2026, the TWISTT project will hold a dedicated workshop in Kairouan, Tunisia, bringing together key stakeholders from research, public administration, international organizations and local actors to discuss sustainable water management and agricultural governance in the region.
The TWISTT/Tunisian Workshop will take place at the AMINA Hotel (Kairouan) and will focus on the interconnections between water resources, agriculture, farming systems and governance, within the framework of the TWISTT project and the PRIMA programme.
The event will gather representatives and experts from a wide range of institutions and organizations, including INRAT, CRDA Kairouan, the Ministry of Agriculture, INAT, INRGREF, ESA Chott Mariem, ESA Mogran, CRRA Sidi Bouzid, as well as international organizations such as FAO and CIRAD. The workshop will also welcome experts in agriculture and water management, NGOs, and farmers, ensuring a strong link between scientific research, policy-making and on-the-ground practices.
This workshop will serve as a key platform to:
- Exchange knowledge and experiences on water and agricultural challenges in Tunisia.
- Present and discuss TWISTT approaches related to water accounting, governance and sustainable farming systems.
- Strengthen collaboration between research institutions, authorities and local stakeholders.
- Foster dialogue between science, policy and end users to support informed decision-making.
By bringing together diverse actors around shared challenges, the TWISTT/Tunisian Workshop contributes to reinforcing cooperation and advancing sustainable solutions for water and agriculture in Mediterranean regions.
